PASSING OF BACKHOUSE

The Passing of the Backhouse  by James Whitcomb Riley Privately Printed Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 1929,

There is controversy if James Whitcomb Riley actually produced this work or if someone else wrote this and simply used Riley’s name. Apparently this poem does not show up on any of the inventories of Riley’s works. Then if he did write it, cannot we understand why he may never have had it listed as one of his?
